Do you want to talk to someone who has 'been there'?
The issues you face in developing and running your social enterprise are not unique. You cannot be expected to be an expert in all things; HR; Procurement and Managing Boards are all topics that you are expected to deal with but do not have the resources to address.
It was these issues that led to the development of the Peer 2 Peer project. The idea is simple and not unique - a small group of decision makers from social enterprises meet on a regular basis to discuss in confidence the issues that affect their business. The group then offers ideas; solutions and support to the individuals. The group can also raise issues and concerns with policy makers in their area or even come together to bid for contracts.
The process of P2P however has been developed to suit the group and not inflict a methodology. Following a pilot in 5 areas and external evaluation we have developed a blueprint of contracts; publicity hints; training programme and regional seminars.
P2P does not prescribe the length; time and frequency of the sessions, indeed the evaluation showed that the pilot projects all developed the best method for their group. However it does rely on a Project Champion for the network. Unlike other Peer to Peer projects, P2P is designed to be sustainable with limited financial commitment for participants and is user led.
Our P2P project offers training for facilitators; mentoring; access to experts and a chance to share experiences at regional seminars - meeting other P2P participants from other networks.
"Provided space to unfold from within rather than to be imposed from above."
